The line rate, or sync speed, is the other one:
The difference is that one is for your downstream speed, and one is for the upstream. Downstream usually tries to go as fast as it can; upstream is usually capped (by BT) to 448Kbps.
The values that the modem reports as "Maximum Bandwidth" seem to be a theoretical maximum - what the modem thinks it could achieve if everything were perfect. However, that Maximum figure of 23,402 seems very bogus. That's faster than people on full fibre can get, and certainly not achievable on any ADSL product.
From the downstream speed, you appear to be on ADSL2+. With that, you can ask Plusnet to uncap your upstream speed (at no charge) - which will probably increase the uplink speed to around 1Mbps. However, if you choose to do this, you should be warned that it may well steal some of the performance off your downstream speed - and lower that by an unknown amount.
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,823

Urm, Well, Yes, what can I say...
now reads 6.7 MB (from 3.2)
that's what I call a result.
Just by removing some wires.
So I am off around the house to find more wires to remove, I'm sure i dont need the wires behinf the cooker
I wonder if it will go up a tad more over the next few days.
Thanks everyone.
