Sorry to hear of your multiple troubles, Keith. From my quick look at the D7800 guide last night, your failure to find that really useful info doesn't surprise me - they seem to be removing useful features on new gear, while introducing many that most users don't want, or need..
Yes, the 2704N will give that data, thankfully.
Is it just you that's down, do you know, or is it an area-wide thing? If you give your phone area code, I could check?

I think its just us, but i dont know for sure... I'll ask about, it's a small village / hamlet so that shouldnt be a difficult to find out.
The area code is 01389, but that covers a significant physical area, of which we are a very small section.

No area-wide reports showing, so it probably is just you - sorry.

Morning @keithdwilliams
I am sorry to hear about the loss of connection, I can confirm that we have located an external fault on your line that is impacting your services. Our Suppliers have advised an estimated response time of 08/02/21 23:59:59, I have logged the fault on your account here to be reviewed by the Faults Team following that timescale

@jab1 Although Netgear GUI information is limited, there is more info than most people know what to do with if you telnet to them.
Some would say a D7800 is overkill for a long ADSL line, but each to their own.
@keithdwilliams you really need to get your phone line sorted before trying to get higher speeds on broadband.

OK @Mustrum , I'll take your word for that - re the information, but I recall on my DG834 you didn't have telnet - it was just there - easy to access and easy to understand. These days, it seems that basic data is hidden, as though they don't want you to be able to easily find it.
Makes it hard to help yourself, if you are capable, or others, if they need guidance.

Hi @keithdwilliams it is the longest you'll have to wait for an engineer to respond to the job, they tend to come out before that 😊(don't hold me to that though, ha! 🤣)

@Mustrum its not a new router, and was bought when the line was shorter - well, for a different location. it has worked very well until this week! i did manage to get into telnet, but i couldn';t any description of the commands the CLI uses to output anything meaningful - is there a description somewhere? its a BusyBox OS - i think - i'd be very interested in seeing something. when we're back up and running!
as for the line, there's a fault... when we sort that, i'll worry about the rest!

@keithdwilliams I have a D7000 which i have been very pleased with, I use DSLstats to monitor it, and chose this model over the D7800 as I knew DSLstats worked. AS such I have to look up commands if i want to use them, but the basic output from it is:
adslctl info --stats

@tinytaco i think BT, or their associate company, tried to call the landline - which is almost entirely dead now - and i missed them. I have no way to call them back or contact them - do i need to? Or will they come back to me?

@keithdwilliams Do you know the number that called you? If so, call it back on your mobile?

OK Keith - don't know them, but I SUPPOSE they could be BT subcontractors.
