Plusnet DNS servers down??

Internet is sluggish but connection speed is fine.

Did a PING on the Plusnet DNS server and got

Pinging 212.159.6.9 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Checked OpenDNS server and that is OK

Pinging 208.67.222.222 with 32 bytes of data:

Re: Plusnet DNS servers down??

Fix

Everything seems fine for me.  What you are showing there is just that the Plusnet DNS servers aren't responding to pings, which is the expected behaviour with them.

Re: Plusnet DNS servers down??

OK.

However, i switched from Plusnet DNS server to OpenDNS and internet sluggishness vanished.

Will switch back to Plusnet and see what happens.

Re: Plusnet DNS servers down??

It’s probably worth reading through this thread I started a few weeks ago. My observation is that Quad9 DNS is faster (and some of the many others) and certainly at least gives the perception of pages loading faster and a consistent slight (6Mb ish on my 80/20 FTTP) speed increase when doing a speed test. I know others who have similar experience.

Despite what the theory says I’ll stick with Quad9.

Re: Plusnet DNS servers down??

I'm seeing intermittent sluggishness too, most noticeable with streaming apps.

Something seems to be not quite right.
