My caller display doesnt work and says not active, my dial tone is intermittent and wont cancel.

Your dial tone is intermittent as you have a waiting message on the free answerphone service that comes with your telephone line (you can cancel this through the members portal if you don't want to use it). Dial 1571 and have a listen.
Double check in the members portal that you have caller ID ordered and enabled. Sometimes the guys at PN Towers need to give it a nudge if it is a newish line.

Try dialling *234# . If caller display is available on the line that should activate it.

Has Caller Display worked previously on your Plusnet line or are you a new customer it worked with your previous provider? If the former, then you need to report this as a fault. If the latter, you need to order the service (at £0.99/month) as it isn't enabled by default.
