*really* slow downloads from adobe.com? 6hrs 23 minutes for a 248mb file!

just wondering if this site is having some sort of traffic management applied to it as it's abnormally slow?
also, is there a list of sites which plusnet apply traffic management to specifically, which is publicly available?

I think Adobe is served by akami which is classed as a download server and traffic managed.
What package are you on?

Server list here: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/quality_broadband/download_servers.shtml
A lot of sites use the CDN such as Akami and Limelight for downloads, this includes MS so you may well see this throttled.
Have a look here http://www.kitz.co.uk/isp/plusnet_shaping.htm for expected speeds, though if the network is under heavy load it is further throttled.

Re: *really* slow downloads from adobe.com? 6hrs 23 minutes for a 248mb file!

i'm (well) within my usage this month, general speed is ok - a little bit sluggish sometimes. i've done a speed test with mybroadbandspeed.co.uk -  and it is a bit slower than normal but not much (normal 3145kbs, tonight 2300kbps to 2900kbs).
i've tried to download adobe pdf reader and it's coming down at about 5kbps a second, which is quite strange. i did go over my allowance last month -  is it possible it hasn't been reset properly and some sites are being disproportionally throttled?
downloading from my plusnet webspace is much faster (although about half of what i'd expect normally, but could be contention?)

Didn't PN had a service whereby you gave them a URL and they downloaded the file then you got it off the off the PN site? I used tat service a few times but can't find it now.
