Well that did not work out very good,
the errors on the line increased tremendously and my download SNR has gone up to 12dB,
has been stable at 6dB since i joined 3 months ago with a corresponding drop of sync by 2.5meg which now makes BBC/Iplayer buffer.
Could you check my line for any faults,
and if nothing found reinstate the upload cap please.
I may have to come back to you and ask for a SNR reset if the SNR does not come down to its previous level. ;(
Thanks
Mike

Can you tell me if you're using any extension cables/sockets? Do you have a test socket you can plug into?

Hi JoJo
I have a filtered faceplate, and cat5 from that to the router.
i could fit the router to the test socket and run the cat5 to a single PC, but from the tests i did when first installing it, no difference at all.
I do have a long overhead line which is i think is the real problem.
pS it's dropping out like Mad today
PPS. just to satisfy my own curiosity as well, i will connect the router to the test socket tomorrow morning.

Let me know when it's in the test socket so I can take a look at how the line is performing. If it is the overhead line and we see performance issues while it's in the test socket, we can look at getting an engineer out if necessary.

Hi JoJo
If you cant identify any fault with the line,
i think the best thing would be to reinstall the upload cap
a loss of 600k upload i can put up with, a drop of 2Mb download is a pain when you are at the lower end of speed capability’s.
once that has taken effect could you please reset the SNR,
i just hope the DSLAM does not have a memory of past problems and i can get back to ADSL2+ and a 6700 sync where i was last week.
Thanks for your help
Mike

I'll cap the upstream and see how that goes. Let us know tomorrow once the order completes.

JoJo
the upload cap has now been applied could you now reset the SNR please
I know this will mean another 10 day training peroid, but hopefully the SNR
will go back to what it was before i thought that uncaping the upload was worth a try.

Just requested the SNR reset for you, should take effect soon. I hope that in combination with the capped upstream will sort things for you.
