Hi everyone. Do you get a message on your email page saying images deleted for security reasons? The message can be cleared only to find an ordinary image which couldn't offend anyone, usually from all my normal mail users. Plus net think it's nothing to do with them, though i did say i hadn't had this problem before with Orange,AOL or BT. Any help welcome. Yours Tedsedg.

If it's our webmail service, then you can set it to display message by updating the option on this page: https://webmail.plus.net/src/options.php

Hi Tedsedg,
Plusnet's webmail is based on the Squirrelmail webmail package which, by default, does not show hosted images in HTML e-mails.
The inserted text of stating it is for security reasons has always been a bit of a bugbear for me as it is all too often misinterpreted by users. The actual reason is that hosted images can be used by spammers to confirm that a particular e-mail has been delivered (and opened) thus verifying a legitimate working address for future spam runs.
As advised, you can change this behaviour if you'd prefer.
Regards,
Mathew
