I haven't changed IP address, I haven't deleted any cookies.

So why has it lost all previous results?

All still there for me. Don't suppose you've run the speed test from the same machine whilst connected to another network recently? Any other changes you've made recently that you can think of?

No, I have no other connection available and I can't think of any changes.

I have a theory:

Looking at my cookies I have one under mybroadbandspeed.co.uk called "speedtest_results". It expires 03 November 2010 20:08:07 which is within a second of a year on from the first test result now displayed. I have subsequently run another test - but the expiry date on that cookie has not been updated.

I suspect that all the results were lost because more than a year has elapsed since my previous first result and that on 03 November 2010 I will lose all my results again.

Shouldn't that cookie either be permanent or have a lot longer life?

I have three other cookies from that domain, two expire in 2019 (WT_CUSTOM and WT_FPC) and the other expires in 2028 (_csuid).

More information:

I've just run another test and WT_CUSTOM has had it's expiry date updated to 3650 days hence (10 years less two leap days) with the time corresponding to the time of the test. speedtest_results has not been updated.

I noticed this the other day from my laptop, but didn't think much about it because it's possible that I hadn't run a speedtest on there (though I thought I had).  If there should be any on there, then the laptop was only bought in August, so the cookie would have not been a year old.  As I say though, it's no garuntee to be related.

I've just run a speed test on my work computer, which has definately not change IP Address (Desktop with static IP on a universary network), and I have definately run speed tests on here before, and now have no history.

Forgive the bump, but has anyone from Plusnet picked this up and raised a problem?

If it's of any help - I too have lost my history quite a few times in the past. Now I export the results history in a csv file and store them locally.

The results are saved based on a combination of IP address and stored cookies. If either of these change in any way then your history will be lost. Jelv, the problem you've observed is indeed because the cookie expires after a year. I'm not sure how easy it would be to change this behaviour but I'm sure we'll find out eventually now that James has raised a problem...

Any progress on this problem?

http://community.plus.net....msg671263.html#msg671263 - data lost at a very unfortunate time

Is it possible to manually edit a cookie to change it's expiry date?

I've lost all my history as well - it looks like everyone has from other posts I've seen.

If there is anyone who still has results from tests before today could they post to disprove this please.

Edit: I've checked my cookies and they are still as noted in reply #4.
