I have been trying to download some programmes on iplayer this evening and it has been unusually slow. I usually get incoming programs at about 5-600k a second but I have only been achieving about 100k a second.

At exactly midnight the rate jumped up to 600k for a minute or so and has now dropped to about 400k. Is plusnet increasing throttling on iplayer traffic during the evenings prior to midnight?

Quite possibly – iPlayer downloads are treated at the standard CDN ‘download server’ rate as far as I'm aware, which has been put under pressure by the recent capacity/speed issues.

which browser are you using in which os?  firefox flies for me in pclinuxos.  firefox 3.5 is out now too.

@ artificer: Hi, I am not streaming but downloading to iplayer desktop so I don't think it is a browser or OS issue.
