Sudden renaming of UID for emails?

« on 04/07/2009, 20:12 »
Hi,

I use fetchmail to access the PlusNet POP3 server.

It appears that, around 2-4pm on Friday the 3rd July, all the UIDs for my emails were renumbered i.e they now have UIDs 1 to 9000. Seeing as I've been using PlusNet for several years, this seems a little unlikely.

One of my backups from May shows UIDs as recorded by fetchmail to be in the range of 19118-1063901858 to UID36141-1063901858.

The current UIDs are in the range UID1-1246627529 to UID9207-1246627529.

This has resulted in fetchmail believing that there were 9000 new, duplicate,  emails to download!

Has this only affected me, or is this a general feature. Should I expect to re-occur in the future?
