Thanks - the missing /div is a mistake but I am less sure about the tags h2 etc. as they are standard css font codes referring to a style sheet

I'm no coder, but I think it's just the location of those h2, h4 and p tags within certain parts of the code, but then again that refers to HTML 4.0 markup, so I'm not sure.

Just a suggestion, have you considered showing the full size images using the Lightbox effect - it's quite popular at the moment (maybe getting a bit overused though). Although it's a bit tricky to set up at first, and involves tweaking a few lines of code to point to your full size image, the effect is quite slick. I've used it on my own site, and it works pretty well on all browsers that I've tried.

It does indeed work but only if javascript is enabled.
I needed a site which would also work without java as a number of users with Firefox  use a no script option and others have java blocked permanently
Regarding the coding - it is standard CSS font coding but I will need to check HTML 4.0 markup rules as it seems a bit odd that it isn't allowed within <span> although I could reverse the nesting if necessary
Edit - further checking shows I need to reverse the nesting - a bit of a pain but worth doing  Sad

As it says on the site from which you borrowed the code:
[quote}Works in IE5.5+ and Firefox, but Opera and Safari users will need to hold the mouse button down while the image loads as :active and :focus are only temporary states in these browsers.[/quote]

This is my experience - your site and the example on your source site both work on Firefox on my Mac, but not on Safari.

BTW I take it you know that "Java" is unrelated to "Javascript"...?

Also, your site does actually use Javascript to obfuscate the link to the artist's email address (presumably so it's harder for a bot to harvest and then use for spamming).  So why don't you use Javascript to do the image gallery too?

Also, h1, div, p etc are block level elements, whereas img, a, and span etc are span level elements.  And a span level element should never have a block level element nested within it.

I use http://www.w3schools.com/ tutorials and reference - very helpful.

Hope this helps.

* Be3G points out that prior to today this thread was last active three months ago, so the problem's probably been sorted by now.
