Question Thread

Just ran the BT Tester and got the following results
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 6654 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  1070 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6215 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 88 kbps

This test was not conclusive and further testing is required.

Please wait whilst you are redirected to undertake a second test.

You now have two choices-

If you wish to carry out further tests and you are competent to make changes to your ADSL system configuration, then please click on 'Continue' button.

If not, please close the window using 'Exit' button and contact your ISP for further assistance with these results.

The strange thing is everything seems normal. The only thing I have changed is I am currently plugged directly into the BT test socket. As I have been told that if your speeds improve its worth buying a BT I-Plate

I bought A BT I-Plate and after three days I now get the following. I am currently on a profile of 6000 do you think it might increase at all

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 7102 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  1042 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6215 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5174 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.

Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.

Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 88 kbps

if its the throughput result and not sync rate which is your problem then pay no attention to the throughput result on the bt test as its common for a result like this esp on the adsl2+ trial

use this tester for thoughpt and bt one for just your ip profile http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/

Still waiting on an update - I thought the beginning of June was going to see a re-start of the trial? Not heard anything on my ticket (Question topic: ADSL2+ Trial | ID: 28908162 ) since mid May... Apologies if this is the wrong place to raise this issue, I was told to post in the ADSL2+ forum but no idea which thread was most relevant...

Hi John,

We tentatively restarted the trial this week, but we're currently only placing a handful of orders a week to make sure we're easily able to monitor progress.

As you can imagine, there's a bit of a backlog, but we're working through the eldest requests first.

What 's the status of the ADSL2+ trial?  My exchange has recently been enabled, and I put in a new request on 4th August to join the trial, but haven't had any response...

Hi Andy,

We're slowly placing orders, but have a considerable backlog.  We're looking to gt the ordering process automated as quite frankly, it's a bit of a pain and pretty time consuming.  Once we have that sorted, we're looking at placing a bulk order.

Are you really sure you want to do that?
Do PN have appropriate 21CN support in place, before that goes through?

We'll ensure that all of the technical guys in the CSC are trained and briefed on ADSL2+ to ensure that should there be a dramatic increase in ADSL2+ related queries, they will be in a position to handle them.

Andy.

I put a request in on the 5th June and still havent been migrated yet, there must be quite a back log.

My Ticket was updated for the first time on the 2nd August saying basically that they are hoping to put an order in for my migration some time this month, so fingers crossed it will be soon.

Hi

I'm a novice at all this so if I am asking the obvious I'll say sorry in advance.

I’ve just completed my training period on ADSL2+ and have not seen any increase in downstream line rate in fact it’s nearly identical to what I had on ADSL around 6653 Kbps. Upstream has increased though to around 1057 kbps. Real world is around 5.5 Mbps Down and 0.8 Mbps up.

My Bt profile hasn’t changed from ADSL it’s still 5500 kbps. Is this normal?
Also I can’t find a way to look at what Plusnet have set my profile to as I am a MAAF customer and their web site doesn’t seem to give access to this type of information is there anyway I can find out what it’s set to?

In the trial start email it said I should get around 7Mbps downstream does this refer to profile, line rate or real world download rates?

I’m using a BT Voyager 2110 which gave a very stable connection on ADSL and has been the same for ADSL2+ from the very start of the trial with a maximum of two drops in 24hrs and is now not dropping at all in 24hrs at which point I reset it. Is there anything I can do to get a bit more downstream speed?

Hi - I'm afraid I can't check this right now as the BT system is currently down for emergency maintenance.

If you drop me a reminder early next week, I'll be happy to check.

Hi Colin,

your line is currently profiled to 5500Kbps in accordance with a resync event at 6240Kbps on the 23rd.

We're also profiling your line @ 5.5Mbps.

The email refers to a "rough estimate" on what profile speed you should be able to get.  On your current sync speed, your profile should eventually increase to 6Mbps.
