In the advanced guide for Broadband Max there is a table that equates Sync Speed with the Maximum Throughput Speed.  This enables you to determine what your IP Profile should be, based on a stable sync speed.  (see http://www.plus.net/suppo...guides/dslmax_guide.shtml)

Is there an equivalent table for ADSL2+ ?

I think help and support pages for 21CN/ADSL2+ still need to be written. However the information you are seeking can be found in the WBC section of the table on Kitz's IPprofile page here. Essentially the profiles increase in steps of 1000kbps.

Thanks for the link, that's really useful.  It is interesting to know what the boundaries are and therefore what to expect.  I have been syncing at 12548 kbps for the last two days and if it stays like that my IP Profile might just nudge up into the next level - 11000 kbps.

Having been told that the connectionhas now been been made - do I need to do anything with the router etc?  Have sent a question back to Help and Support as original now closed by them.  Have asked Jameseh about the supply of router but not had any response as unsure if my Belkin54g will manage.

Hi Josie,

Hopefully you should get your router in the next day or so.

Specifically, there shouldn't really be anything you need to do, just keep an eye on things and see how it behaves.

Hi

Since going on the trail i have been unable to do a BT Speedtest after entering my phone number i get the following day and night

The system is currently busy. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider.

is it me or is this a known issue.

When I am switched to ADSL 2+, will the line be retrained or can I request that mine is as it currnently quoted at a miserable 0.5 since migrating to option 2.

Hi all, was wondering if anyone on the ADSL2+ had noticed if there was a difference in the margin between their Sync speed and IP profile.  I don't know what's supposed to be a good ratio for eaither ADSL Max or 2+ but I thought I would ask if anyone had noticed if there was any difference, just out of idle curiosity really.

Moderator's Note: Post moved into the Question thread since the point raised is connected with that in earlier posts here (in particular replies #80 and #81). David (spraxyt)

Your line will be retrained. If you have the right kit you can tweak the SNR etc. and after the 10 day training period check the stability and get Interleaving switched on or off.

I have also found this link very useful (I know it's been mentioned already)

This may have been answered somewhere else, but I haven't seen it (and of course it may be a daft question) .  I volunteered for the trial last Friday, but haven't heard anything yet.  At the same time,  I asked for one of the Thomson routers (I don't think the one I've got will do ADSL2)

I don't know if the Belkin wireless adapters I have plugged into my family's various desktops will work, or if I will need to buy replacements.   Undecided

Hi John,

Due to the nature of the way that we're placing the orders - we're staggering the orders so they're not all completing on the same day.  Dave will probably be along later today to let you know what's going on.

I have just tried out this link for my line which has a d/s attenuation of 63dB. The expected d/s speed improvement is marginal, reported as from ~1952kbps to 2016kbps, although I would expect the upstream speed improvement to be better. On a good day I can get over 2300kbps but at this speed and this time of year it doesn't take much to drop the connection and resync around 1800kbps. Even though my exchange is due to be enabled 31/03/09, I'm reluctant to volunteer (a case of if it ain't broke don't tinker). I have yet to see any before/after comparisons from volunteers with similar line length/attenuation (although I'm guessing that jmdlp is similar and andyizzard at 61dB is a close benchmark). It would be helpful if those who post before/after speed comparison data also quote their line attenuation, and any indication of improved stability.

I have a question for the comms team

Is the speed profile on the PN Portal 21CN ready?

I have also been unable to use BT speed test to do any comparison.

I always get a system  busy  message(even in the dead of night)

I can obtain data stats locally but it would be useful to get other relevant data

Well at least my broadband speed is better than whatever you use for deliveries!  No router as yet, Dave said despatched Thursday - I am not that far from Sheffield so it must have been sent via the Far East!

@ Josie: The router itself will come from Northallerton which is in North (?) Yorkshire.

Let me know if it hasn't arrived by tomorrow and I'll get one sent from the office.

@ Ctech500: The PN Profiles are in place, but due to some changes in the BBCR reporting that BT kindly made, the profiles aren't being changed automatically.  I'll try and find out what yours should be and get it updated accordingly.

My first post here, so apologies if this isn't in the right place...

I've recently upgraded my phone wiring (using a XTE-2005 filtered faceplate and Pro+ twisted pair cabling) to try to get the most out of my current ADSL Max (up to 8Mbps) connection.  Basically, I've been getting good performance but I wanted to make sure I could get the full benefit of ADSL2+ when BT eventually get round to upgrading my exchange to 21CN/WBC capability... for which no date has been set according to SamKnows.   Cry

I've read around a bit on Kitz etc but still find the terminology quite confusing.  Could someone enlighten me as to whether the following stats indicate that I would benefit from ADSL2+, and perhaps even hazard a guess as to what speeds I might expect?

Here's the ADSL stats from my router:

I attach a pic of the 'WAN status' page from my router config, in case that sheds any more light.

Ta muchly!
