I type the URL into the address bar. The browser status bar shows "looking up www.example.co.uk". The address bar then changes to ccgi.cbrody.plus.com/examplefolder and the page is displayed (redirected from index.php in the root of cgi.)

Another possibility is that you use a cms or e.g. phpBB-forum-software where you set in the admin panel of that software the URL. This would explain, that .htaccess redirects it to your cms, but the cms then sets it to the URL http://ccgi.cbrody.plus.com/examplefolder. Everything runs correctly, but one wonders why the domain correctly is directed into examplefolder and then it is directd to somewhere else.
Hope that is it?

That can't be it otherwise the redirection to folder "test" would have worked. Here's the htaccess I used to test that:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.peaceblog.org$ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) /test/$1 [L]

Hello

Thank you.
Something redirects from root into your folder - you said it is a php-file. What happens if this php-file is diabled? (just rename it to index.php_OFF).

Great page BTW.

Tried it a couple of minutes ago and http://www.yourdomain.org still is redirected to http://ccgi.cbrody.plus.com/yourfolder/.
Do you mind disabling again the index.php file and to setting the .htacces file to redirect to folder test.

Problem solved after numerous queries to PlusNet support. They informed me that the reason was that I didn't have a 301 redirect in my htaccess but it now works without one. So it is still a mystery as to why it wasn't working.

Thanks for everyone's help
