Re: Peak time latency spikes

Prior to all of this, there was a difference between gateways for my connection w.r.t. ping times. It never had any effects on speed though.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

For those still seeing problems (Purleigh / wizkid66  etc) please raise a fault ticket. We can use that to check if there is anything else potentially causing these issues for you,

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@AndyH
Would you be able run us the BT Speedtester again please? I'll use the information I get from this test as part of reporting an issue on your line.
We are also seeing a Major Service Failure in your area which may be affecting things too. It should have cleared by now, I'll keep an eye on that you keep you in the loop.
Please let me know once you've complete the BT Speedtester.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Just remembered posting a question related to my switch from the John Lewis broadband products back at the start of February.
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111793.0.html
Basically I was querying why, while running a load balanced download across both my lines the line with the JL login had barely no increase in latency while the line with the Plusnet login had very large increases in latency, similar to what we are seeing now.
Would this give any clues to where the problem lies?
I'm still getting the spikes in peak time.
The chart below shows a youtube stream at 8.30pm and the same stream at 11.30pm.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@purleigh
If you could raise a fault at http://faults.plus.net I'd be more than happy to take a further look into your line for you.
I've taken a general look at your line and it's showing a decrease on your bRAS Profile and your line quality isn't looking all that good, so I'd be keen to get that sorted out for you.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ Chris
The BT checker is playing up - says my download speed is 107Mbps (higher than my profile with BT/PN) and when I do a Further Diagnostics I get "The Performance Test cannot proceed with the Post Code option as no suitable addresses have been found. Please check the post code or use the Service ID option to conduct the test. Click here to try again."

That's strange. Would you mind checking again this evening for me please?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Sure...failing the postcode/address checker, could you PM me my broadband circuit number (see what happens if I use that instead)?

@ Chris,
Fault ticket logged reference number: 67243141  I would be grateful if you could please update me either via this thread or by adding to the ticket on my account. You will see that  I have quoted this thread as I have included all the speed test results I have taken when the speeds decrease.

Are you getting this message after entering the telephone number?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

The Postcode option is only relevant to FTTP testing - all you need to enter on the further diagnostics page is your ADSL phone no, then click "Begin test"

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Nope...I have to use the second diagnostic (Fibre to the Premises) and put in a postcode/building number or broadband circuit number. I tried my neighbours address too (he's on 330/30Mbps) and same problem - it seems broke after the facelift!
* I'm on the Plusnet FTTP/H trial btw

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Sorry, I didn't realise you were on FTTP.
