For some reason my PPPoE session gets disconnected now and then, sometimes several times a day. This in itself wouldn't be a problem if it didn't take such a long time for the WAN to come back up.
I've looked in the router log files and can see that it's trying to connect but keeps getting:
PPP ERROR Timeout waiting for PADO packets
Sometimes it will reconnect within 5 mins, but at worst can take half an hour or so.
Someone seems to be having a similar issue here: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?board_id=11&model=RT-N66U%20(VER.B1)&id=20121023200911017&page=1...
If the connection drops unexpectedly, then could there be a timeout on the Plusnet servers for the PPPoE session to expire? If this is the case could this be shortened in any way?
I also read elsewhere that attempting to connect whilst the old session is running can be logged at the other end as an invalid login attempt and can blacklist you for a period of time, the more login attempts the longer the blacklist period - this does seem to reflect what I see in the log files too.

You are not alone here either - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,108770.0.html - user with Asus N66U.
Has anyone seen my signature, it's gone missing.
