I watched a programme last night on BBC2 called ‘Paradise or Bust‘. This one had passed me by until now, but this is Web 2.0 crowd-sourcing taken to extremes.
Anyone can join the ‘community’ at their website and pay a ‘joining fee’ that entitles the tribe member to influence development of the project.
In many ways their naivety stretches credulity, but the project has been going since April 2006 and so must be progressing well-enough for the full scale media extravaganzas of TV-series and tie-in books to get underway (and indeed the current series was shot and completed last year). In fact, the founder of this enterprise clearly has already moved onto his next project, which similarly combines a community partnership with project sponsorship, this time to set up a TV Production company in ‘Have you Got The Nerve?’
I caught the repeat of Paradise or Bust last night.
Damn, wish I'd thought of it!
