Sounds like he should be owed the cost of the homeplugs!
Things are not go away until BT OpenRetch are forced to pay compensation for their deficiencies.

He said that he didn't have the crimping tool and the ends so couldn't do it (seemed strange to me). He did offer to relocate the master socket, modem and router to the upstairs bedroom (the external BT overhead cable is just outside this room - house is standard semi with small bedroom above hall). I declined as I didn't want the master socket and modem to be permanent features in the bedroom.
