Plusnet supports local youth charity

Plusnet staff have spent the last year raising much needed cash for Roundabout, Sheffield’s local youth housing charity. We’ve spent the year getting involved in a number of fundraising activities including an abseil from our 110ft building, a triathlon, The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon and a Dragon Boat Race along with a range of internal fundraising activities. ...and we’re very proud to have now presented Roundabout with a cheque for over £15,000. Our CEO, Andy Baker, commented:

“We have supported our local charity Roundabout over the last year in its excellent work in the community. The Plusnet workforce is of a similar age profile to many of the individuals helped by Roundabout and this has really struck a chord with us.”

Amy Casbolt, Fundraising coordinator at Roundabout, commented:

“We are overwhelmed by the huge amount that Plusnet has raised over the last 12 months. Their support has made a big impact and has enabled us to renovate our emergency hostel and provide a safe place for young people in Sheffield with nowhere else to go. Working with Plusnet has been huge amounts of fun and we'd like to say a big thanks to everyone for their generosity and support”.

Roundabout offers support and shelter to young people in Sheffield and the surrounding area. The support offered enhances the lives of 16-25 year olds by providing education, advice and life skills to benefit their future. This year Roundabout’s emergency hostel has undergone critical renovation work to allow the vital support they offer to continue. The money raised by Plusnet staff has helped to make the renovation work possible. Roundabout presentation 2014 Plusnet staff have also helped through by decorating properties, sharing skills of PR and Microsoft Office and various other knowledge along the way. Plusnet has also donated a number of computers and free broadband for use at the newly refurbished hostel, to allow tenants the chance to realise the benefits of the internet and help use online tools to get their lives back on track. We’ll be announcing our 2014 Charity of the Year shortly...watch this space.
