Is it possible to keep the old FTTC connection going ( from Now broadband) before transferring the voice service over to a Voip provider and sign up to plusnet FTTC as well - having both services running side by side for a short time , or will open reach remove the copper overhead line and replace it with fibre?
Ive got a good few months yet before I need to move, that is if Now broadband dont offer a deal ( although im now in a full fibre/fttp only area)
and the intention is to do this:
Sign up with Plusnet FTTP
Keep the connection going with Now Broadband for the transition
Sign up with a Voip provider (Voiphone)
Port the landline number from the Now broadband copper FTTC service to Voiphone
Automatically cease ( by porting number) the Now Broadband service

I don't see why not. It's not exactly equivalent but I signed up for FTTC (we have no FTTP here) with PlusNet while retaining my BT phone line and ADSL (on that line) with PlusNet.
Openreach installed a new line for the FTTC, though they did check (wouldn't be needed for FTTP) that my existing landline was being retained alongside it.
In due course I cancelled the ADSL, subsequently migrated the landline to VOIP (with A&A) which terminated the BT contract.

As far as I'm aware it's still possile to run two separate connections.
Contact PN to set up your account and FTTP installation. You need to ensure you "check" the box which asks about current service to say you want to keep it (I've never signed up so don't know the exact process).
Do not under any circumstances tell Now Braodband of your plan.
On the day if install make sure you tell your engineer that your current service is from a different ISP and that it is being retained.
Out of interest do you have a O/H or U/G feed - if the former you could have asked for the copper cable to be removed. Now you would need to make certain it stays in place.

That is pretty much what I did with my parents a couple of months ago. Only difference was that the original connection was with Plusnet as well rather than Now. On the day the engineer checked with me that we were keeping the existing connection as that was stated on her notes. It all went very smoothly (other than a missed appointment by an Openreach contractor).
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
