for the benefit of the community, I rebooted my router a few days back (didnt change anything related to ipv6) and the issue is gone (on old gateways, new bng ones ipv6 still doesnt work).

Re: BNG gateways don't assign IPv6 when state-full requested (IA_NA opt) with dhcpv6

About 00:20 on Thursday 14 Aug I lost internet contact so went to look at my ASUS RT-N66U. It looked normal, and I was able to reconnect. (FTTC + HG612 unlocked modem feeding the ASUS).
In the evening I found I was on the IPv4 IP address that goes with my IPv6 test IP address. Not my normal IPv4 static IP. I'm also on ptn-bng01 instead of my previous pcl-ag05 .
I'm using bog-standard ASUS firmware. Version 3.0.0.4.374_720, with the box lower down on the Firmware Upgrade page showing "The latest firmware version to prevail ASUS support site ( http://support.asus.com 😞 3.0.0.4.374_720-gc39b848. If I click "Check" it checks ASUS and tells me there is a later version and asks if I want to update.
Advice sought, please, on both the loss of IPv6 so should I hunt until I get a gateway that works, and on the update question. I don't really want to go to Merlin as I'm perfectly happy with what I have.

I have found that all the gateways I have tried, except for the BNG ones, are set up for IPv6.

Re: BNG gateways don't assign IPv6 when state-full requested (IA_NA opt) with dhcpv6

There does seem to be an issue with IPv6 on the BNGs. I'm getting assigned a prefix etc. correctly, but no traffic seems to pass over IPv6 (even from the router):
Quote
/home/root# ping6 ipv6.google.com
PING ipv6.google.com (2a00:1450:4009:800::1004): 56 data bytes
--- ipv6.google.com ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Quote
/home/root# traceroute6 ipv6.google.com
traceroute to ipv6.google.com (2a00:1450:4009:800::1004), 30 hops max, 16 byte packets
