Re: Why is the 500mbps FTTP tariff always giving me 300mbps download speeds?

Just another thought, @jacko0 - do you have a phone/tablet you could try the speed-test on - according to the BTw test above, you are provisioned on the correct product? Just wondering if it is your kit that can't handle speed above 300Mb/s?

Fix

@jacko0 I've had a quick look, could you try rebooting your router and then retest your speed afterwards?

@Gandalf I'm not at home at the moment, but I've remotely restarted the Unifi Dream Machine router. Then I ran the built in speed check on the router and it's still not the FF500 speed. I'll can check again with the BT wholesale check tonight when I get home.

@jacko0, I'm just curious, has your Dream Machine ever shown your full speed in a test? I have a USG, and its built in speed test reports less than 300Mbps on my 600Mbps FTTP (and I do get the full 600Mbps on other devices).

Interesting, @corringham  - wonder if the UDM can handle the higher speeds?

Re: Why is the 500mbps FTTP tariff always giving me 300mbps download speeds?

Having checked my USG, it appears that the speed test function has gone away with some software update. I never used it, since it didn't test my speed so I'm not sure when it disappeared. However, it may be that none of the Ubiquiti kit measure speed well (they do most things well so it is a bit disappointing).

Re: Why is the 500mbps FTTP tariff always giving me 300mbps download speeds?

Thanks so much @Gandalf!!!!   When I got home I rebooted the BT ONT and Unifi Dream Machine Pro and it is now 510mbps.

What had happened, what did you fix?   Thanks so much.  I just wish Plus Net support line would listen, and not just read from the script. They would not believe me, I was told my ethernet was not fast enough to handle the speed, I mean.. [-Censored-]!

😍

Re: Why is the 500mbps FTTP tariff always giving me 300mbps download speeds?

Glad to see that!

I did nothing. I did however notice the service was initially provisioned on the 330mbps profile due to human error, and was rectified soon after, but the connection hadn’t dropped since the 2nd change order completed, so I suspected it was stuck on the previous speed.

I reckon this was an edge case due to the circumstances and not a normal scenario. Certainly not a good experience though, and apologies for what happened!

@Gandalf it appeared to need an ONT reboot though?

@jacko0 rebooted the router shortly after your earlier post  but did both the router and ONT when at at home

BTw IP Profile 533.98Mbps that seem higher than 500Mbps? Has BT changed now to get throughput speed higher than 500Mbps?

@goldenfibre - the provisioned product speed for the 500mbps product is actually 550/75
