Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

I have just done a speed test and have the following results:

513.8/68.5 on my wired PC,

and 455/71.3 on my iphone11 (wireless).

This all on my original system.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

@bobpullen @Townman @bill888

An interesting strategy to cure an Openreach fault without involving Openreach.

Download speed on my wired PC: 303.7 Mbps

Upload speed on my wired PC: 46.0 Mbps

Download speed on my iPhone 11: 309 Mbps

Upload speed on my iPhone 11: 47.9 Mbps

My Plusnet Broadband Service:

  • Product:  Full Fibre 300
  • Estimated Download Range:  300 - 330Mbps
  • Estimated Upload Range:  45 - 50Mbps
  • Minimum Guaranteed Speed:  165Mbps
  • Current Line Speed (Download):  330Mbps
  • Cost £29.99 a month

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

One month after my issue was resolved, I can now confirm I am very satisfied with the service I am receiving.

My internet connection is constant, flawless and fast:

PC wired download: 304.1 Mbps

PC wired upload: 45.9 Mbps

iPhone 11 wireless download: 307.53 Mps

Cost: £29.99 a month

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Hi @bobpullen

By any chance would you be able to try this solution for my account too please. I’m facing the exact same issue as the customer on this thread having upgraded from the exact same package of 145mb to the fibre 300 package also with all of the same issues as them.

The plusnet team have advised me to ask you if you’d be able to implement the same fix by replying on this thread.

Kind regards

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

@Rambo23 - that's exactly what I did here and it had no effect at your end other than to increase your upload (suggesting the regrade was successful in that regard). I don't expect different results from attempting the exact same thing again, so persisting down the fault route is my only suggestion if you are absolutely confident the issue isn't within your domain.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Thanks @bobpullen. Quick question. Would using a TP Link wifi extender cap the speed?

I have the wifi connection available for the router, and 2 wifi connections from the TP LINK (one is 2.5ghz the other one is 5ghz).

I’ve only tested the main router speeds with wireless and wired. Just wondered if the TP LINK could be capping the speed to the old speed of 145mb somehow?

Thanks again for any advice you can offer.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

WiFi extenders will certainly use some of the WiFi band width impacting WiFi connection speeds, but that should not impact wired speeds. For the avoidance of doubt, when the device was Ethernet connected, was the WiFi turned off? Just because there’s a wire connected, if the WiFi is still turned on, there can be no certainty that the traffic is going over Ethernet.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

According to this post, a direct PPP connection was made from a computer direct to the Openreach ONT i.e. bypassing all routers/extenders, and the speeds still didn't improve.

Is this still the case?

Edit: almost no way you're getting above ~145mbps from the 2.4GHz TP-Link access point.
