Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial open - extremely limited spaces!

Well I was under the impression that the more you used the better your speed but I've tried with 1 and 20 ( 20 is my  max ) and I always get the same speed. I've been using Usenet for many years now and always the maximum speed my line will support minus the overhead for SSL. Currently my setup spreads my downloads over 3 different servers with 6 connections to each.

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial open - extremely limited spaces!

My Server is running headless Ubuntu so I've been doing download tests on it using the very useful ( and light weight ) wget. I found a couple of test download sights with 1GB files plus I got a friend of mine to host a file on his for me.

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

Thanks to everyone that's taken part in the 300Mbps FTTP trial. The trial is now closed to new additions. For the customers already on the trial we are going to align the timeline with our FTTP on demand trial so you'll be able to remain on 300Mbps until the end of March 2013. We'll contact you all during March to let you know what the options will be for after March 2013.
Anyone on FTTP (on 40Mbps, 100Mbps or 300Mbps) can upgrade to the new Extra Fibre product if they wish for the additional usage on that product.
Due to the low availability and limited spaces on the FTTP on demand trial, this will remain invite only for the time being.

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

Stupid question Dave, as I'm on FTTP 330MB trial if I moved off my regular BB extra product ( £11.49 for 60gb ) to the new Fibre Extra product would I change to £19.99 per month but get the improved allowance of 250gb per month ? Do the new products offer anything else ?
Thanks

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

Hi Si,
The differences between the product you are on now and the new Extra Fibre products are the speed (76Mbps), Usage (250GB) and price (£19.99). The speed's not a consideration for now as you already have 300Mbps. So at the moment the extra £8.50 is buying an additional 190GB.

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

Hi Dave,
I am currently on the 330Mbps trial and have the Fibre Extra product (with 120gb allowance) for which I pay £21.49 pm.  Therefore is it worth changing to the new product to get the  bigger allowance or  should I wait until the end of the trial and see what options exist then with regards 300Mbps.  I am aware that the allowances have been overridden for some of us and so I suppose the question is will this continue, in which case I can wait or will it revert back to the 120gb allowance in which case switching to the newer product may be attractive (may even save me £1.50 a month?)

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

As we're not revealing any details about a potential 300mb product I'd say go for the new Extra account type, if you weren't to do that then you're account would be returned to it's previous state before the trial.

Re: 300Mbps FTTP trial Closed

Just a note, if you want to switch to the new Extra Fibre with 250GB product, could you raise a ticket via the FTTP route under http://trials.plus.net and put it for the attention of me and say that you want the new product and I'll do the change. The Product Change option on our website hasn't been set up for FTTP yet so I'll need to do it for you.
