steady drop in speeds over the last 3 weeks.

Hi

I have noticed  a drop in speed over the last 3 week from a constant 71.4 down to around 64mb download. I have tried various internet speed test sites and all seem to agree the lower speeds. I have also noticed that while watching 4k video online I see a lot of buffering lately...this was not a problem in the past. I just did a bt line test and here is the result.

Nothing has changed on my end I have exactly the same router cables  set up etc etc as before. Can someone check my line please and investigate.

thanks

@Griff7520

You don’t say whether your speed test was over a wired or wireless link. Looking at your IP profile one might suspect wireless and this could be the issue. https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-One-5GHz-WiFi-issue/m-p/1696363#M15510

Re: steady drop in speeds over the last 3 weeks.

sorry...it is not wireless and is not the issue. I also use my own router and not the ones provided by Plusnet. Like i said in my opening post I usually get 71.4 mbps but over the last couple of weeks it has been dropping hence the request for a line test...at least then I will know if it is my end if you say there is no problem your end. cheers

Re: steady drop in speeds over the last 3 weeks.

Hi @Griff7520

Thanks for getting in touch. I've just tested your line and you're in sync at 80mb/s.

It's definitely worth trying the test socket of your premises as shown here

It's also worth noting though that the information below is what was provided when we created your account:

At peak times, we estimate that you'll get the following speeds on your line:
Download: 60 - 72Mb
Upload: 17 - 18Mb
Minimum Guaranteed Speed: 54.6Mb

Whilst I appreciate that the drop in speed may be frustrating, the speeds you're experiencing are still well within the estimate for your line and we wouldn't be able to raise this as a fault on that basis.

Best wishes

Dave

Re: steady drop in speeds over the last 3 weeks.

cheers Dave, just wanted to make sure there was no fault, all ways makes me wonder if there is a problem when you have a consistant stable download of 71.4 meg for 8 or 9 months and then you see it suddenly start to drop...I notice these things because i check my download speed every 2 days so watched it for 2 weeks and decided to come here and ask the question.

Re: steady drop in speeds over the last 3 weeks.

Thanks for getting back to us. I can't find any problem on our side still. I'd first try rebooting the router just to rule that out as you've been connected for a while. I'd also suggest using speedtest.net in addition to/instead of the Wholesale site.
