Apparently they have no idea - seems to have just fixed itself.

Had this reply to my support ticket:

Dear Mr Smith, Thank you for getting in touch. It's not apparent what caused the issue specifically and it could have just been a disconnection somewhere on our network. However, I can see that you are now connected so please let us know if you experience further issues.
