Re: Need to change my IP address

However, doing ipconfig /all gives me DHCP Enabled = Yes which I'm told means I still have a dynamic IP address.  I guess I will have to call Plusnet to get it sorted.

Re: Need to change my IP address

The IP address you have posted starting 212 is not the IP address you're accessing these forums with or have ever posted with. So not sure what you're seeing in your router.

* ipconfig /all gives me DHCP Enabled = Yes
That's only on your local PC and totally unrelated to the IP address you are assigned by PN.

Re: Need to change my IP address

In case it helps, I have a static IP address, also in the 212.159.xxx.xxx range.

Edit: I'm not disputing what @dvorak said about the forum posting address.

@RobPN if you do a ipconfig /all what do you get for 'DHCP Enabled' ?

@clarkac

Maybe easier to use this site https://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address to see your public IP Address

Sorry for any confusion I might have caused

Re: Need to change my IP address

@clarkac  As @dvorak has already said the DHCP setting is for local private addresses on your Lan, not your WAN IP address.

How are you accessing this forum, using your Plusnet connection directly or perhaps via a VPN.

Re: Need to change my IP address

I don't have a VPN so using the Plusnet connection directly.

Probably to many cooks in the kitchen, I fear my first post about using nslookup may have confused the mater.

If you use the link above that will give you your public IP Address, ipconfig /all is not going to give you that answer

That's not quite right - having DHCP enabled simply means that you router is allocated an IP address by Plusnet's DHCP server. That is correct, and is the same whether you have a dynamic or static IP address.

The difference is that with a dynamic address you will be allocated an address from the dynamic pool of addresses (which appear in the PBL) and that may vary from time to time, but with a static address you always be allocated the same address from a pool of addresses which do not appear in the PBL.

Re: Need to change my IP address

I called Plusnet and the tech guy there said that my IP address is 212.159.45.226 and as far as he can see it's a static IP address.  I'm not sure why DHCP Enabled = Yes but I'll go with this IP address.  If I get any more Bitnami captcha screens I'll probably explode or something worse.
