Need A Specific Static IP Address

Hi

I need a specific STATIC PUBLIC IP ADDRESS to be assigned to my PLUSTNET network. Currently, STATIC IP is being enabled but, it was assigned by ISP.

is it possible to setup a specific STAIC PUBLIC IP ADDRESS ( I'll provide this address to ISP ).

Thank you 🙂

Re: Need A Specific Static IP Address

No it isnt. The static IP assigned must be from the IP ranges owned and routed by Plusnet.

Re: Need A Specific Static IP Address

"Originally assiigned to" is a possibly better.

"Owned by", less so. Netblocks can be voluntarily relinquished. There's also (or used to be) a re-rental market in sub-blocks.

IMHO.

SWIP.

Sub-blocks can arrive on another providers routing tables. (I'm not implying Plusnet would).

And not as weird as carrier-grade NAT. My humble understanding is that is shouldn't be deployed at end-point use. But I could be wrong (I've seen private IP address space - 10's, 192's, etc.) used on intervening routing device interfaces in the past - on the public internets).
