I want to remove a website

I have a website with plus.net that I want to remove, or at least remove all the files.

I can log into my main account and webmail at plus.net, and my login details are also accepted if I try to log into the webspace via Filezilla, but I get a warning message:
"Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS."
For this reason I don't want to proceed.
I also tried CuteFTP but my free trial has expired

If I try to log in via https://hosting.plus.net/portal/#CH-topbar/left/home , my username and/or password are not accepted.
I'm concerned that changing the password might affect my access to the rest of plus.net, and in any case might not work if this link is out of date and doesn't allow me to delete the files from my website.

Is there a way I can log on securely using Filezilla? or another ftp client?

What I would really like to find is somewhere I can just click on to get the website removed completely, but to be able to remove all the files first would help if it would speed things up.

Thank you

Re: I want to remove a website

I'm not sure about the access to Plusnet webspace as it isn't something I have used for years - however, is non-secure access a risk if all you are doing is deleting files? An insecure connection only means that he packets sent to/from the server are not encrypted so could potentially be intercepted by someone with access to the intermediate servers - a few delete command are not going to expose any personal details that could be exploited by anyone even if they were intercepted.

Thanks, but wouldn't this also compromise my password?

Re: I want to remove a website

Fix

Homepages connection has always be unencrypted, it is safe to proceed.

Unless you are using public WiFi or something, connecting via PlusNet broadband is quite low risk.

Password is only sent the one time when connecting, all other actions do not require a password repeat. Also I believe that the standard homepages server is located within the PlusNet network and does not travel out onto the "wider internet".

That's RPM to you!!

Many thanks for the help of Dabbler and RPMozley. Your help is much appreciated. I have now successfully deleted my websites using Filezilla.

Thanks, Corringham. Sorry I misread you and called you Dabbler. Your help was also useful and much appreciated, but I could only select one post as a fix
