How Long from Sign Up to Go Live

Hi

My current broadband contract minimum term with another provider expires on 7th June.

I'm interested to move back to Plusnet, and have my broadband go live after the 1st of June, to match up with

most of my other household DD's that go out in the first week of each month.

When should I initiate the Plusnet contract so that go live would be between the 2nd and 6th of June ?

Can I specifically choose a go live date, or is it something like immediately after the 14 day cooling off period, or....?

@trufflehunt

You can specify a target go-live date, but the actual date will be predicated on resource availability if engineering works are required.

What is the nature of the migration?

  • From a BT Wholesale borne service or from another party's network (Sky / Talk Talk / Virgin or other alt-net)
  • If BT Wholesale like for like (FTTC to SOGEA or FTTP to FTTP) or an 'upgrade' ADSL / FTTC to FTTP

If your migration is not from BT Wholesale and like for like, then engineering works are very likely to be required.  The least effort will be a switch of the fibre circuit from the third party to BT Wholesale kit; the most being the installation of a new FTTP service.

Even if the switch hits your preferred / last day with the current provider, you should anticipate that they will still forward bill and you'll need to await their final bill for a refund.  Such ensures that you are not without broadband in the event of there being a delay in commissioning the new service.

I would order ASAP and set the date for your ideal.

The initial billing date will be the one month anniversary of the actual go-live date after which you can change the billing date through the user portal.

Re: How Long from Sign Up to Go Live

Hi

Thank you.   I'm currently with 1pbroadband. 18 month contract with them went live on 7th December 2023, and I've made 18 payments, with what they call the 'Minimum term end date' end date being 7th June. With them, I've on a Part Fibre contract, i.e. FTTC, and I'd be going on a SOGEA contract with Plusnet.

Does activation date of 3rd June with Plusnet sound reasonable ?
