Re: Dissappearing topics?

Here's a new observation - if you look at the oldest topics remaining in a forum and find one that has been moved (e.g.   https://community.plus.net/t5/General-Chat/Stop-all-in-coming-call/td-p/1637395) and follow the link to the moved post you are likely to see:

The content you are looking for has been archived. View related content below.

So some posts that are being left point to nowhere useful. Ugly!

Re: Dissappearing topics?

Exactly, @corringham . I have said, or inferred, on here previously that the whole thing is a total shambles, probably initiated by a brand-newly 'qualified' business graduate - or their two-year old child.

So, if it has been 'archived', is there a way to view said archive, for enlightenment?

Re: Dissappearing topics?

Looking at General Chat I see topics for 2019 going

Many of the topics are from users you do not see here anymore

Really not a big deal for some

Re: Dissappearing topics?

Like a few other boards, no-one would have any real reason to mourn if it went altogether - IMO.

Re: Dissappearing topics?

I would agree that the fora were in need of some attention - they would benefit from a tidy-up and reorganisation to ensure the individual forums remain relevant. I suspect that a number of regulars would have been able to make some constructive suggestions.

I'm not sure the way it is being done will result in anything better than we had - although hopefully there will be some culling of redundant forums and possibly creating of new ones, once the mass extinction event is over.

I suspect we may see a lot of Members removed - out of the 142,381 I suspect that only a few hundred have posted in the past  year or two, and maybe a few thousand have visited the fora. Most will be long ex-customers.

The Plusnet Blogs should probably be next for the cull - there's nothing relevant there now.

Re: Dissappearing topics?

I am surprised the Blogs still exist, TBH and am confused as to why irrelevant boards haven't been removed - they haven't even 'culled' any of them, but I suppose someone might have an explanation, however bizarre.

First rule/regulation on the revised guidelines, with effect from 02/09/2024: ANY post or topic which implies or suggests incompetence by ANY of the constituent parts of BT Group PLC will be instantly removed -only those praising this great conglomerate will be tolerated.

Re: Dissappearing topics?

I know, @pvmb  - I've been taking 1/2 hourly screenshots of the forum landing page almost since this debacle started  - but we are still waiting for a SENSIBLE explanation.

I note there have been no Help Team staffers around almost since it started, and those SU's/mods who have replied have usually done so to claim I'm a 'conspiracy theorist' - which I find somewhat insulting.

EDIT: your edit could be a theory, but it doesn't really explain 90% of the topics on the mainly affected boards disappearing.

Re: Dissappearing topics?

Last couple of interesting shots for today - then I'm off out for a while. Wonder what interesting excuse we will see tomorrow?

Re: Dissappearing topics?

@jab1  Not a conspiracy theory but maybe Staff and recognised helpers are being told what's happening on a 'need to know' basis..........
