Plusnet Hub 2 router firmware.

Home//Broadband performance test//"Test my speed"

Pointless to log in router for the speed test! Not many peoples can't be bother to logged into 192.168.1.254 with username and password.

You never needed to "log in" to the Hub 2 router to use the BT speed test via the router.

Currently, the speed test page is blank: so it has been killed, or it has been taken down while it is being repaired.

Re: BT Wholesale Speed Test

A CTRL+F5 should reload the page.
The Hub Two speed test link is just an embedded shortcut to the BTW speed test which is currently down.

Re: BT Wholesale Speed Test

@pvmb Sorry - both @goldenfibre  and myself obviously misinterpreted your comment, I certainly didn't quite understand what you were on about.

I suspect that BT/OR have decided in their 'wisdom' to remove another 'customer assistance' bit of technology - wouldn't surprise me in the slightest as the BT Group as a whole is currently trying to recreate 'GPO Telephones' of old.

Dan - I can get to the home page for the BTW tester, but clicking 'GO' just brings up the picture below:

In other words - it is either borked or intentionally stopped.

Re: BT Wholesale Speed Test

It's been like that for a while a couple of weeks now, Additional Diagnostic have not worked for some time, personally I wouldn't really bother using it at all.

@goldenfibre

Thanks for posting the IPS review news story.

I think it has been down far longer than just recently as the Additional Diagnostics have not functioned for a very long time I suspect it (Additional Diagnostics) would be useless for Full Fibre connections.

FTTP Speedtest Issue

Today when watching things it was buffering so I thought I would go the the BT speedtest, only to find out that it is not working.  It had been discontinued as from 10th January 2025. (This is according to the BT broadband community.) I cannot find anything on this or it's replacement on the PN website, or in the community, what we should be officially using now.  (I did a quick search of the community and nothing came up.)

I went to Ookla and found that I was only getting 67 mbps download, that is far less than my previous FTTC connection.  The projected download bandwidth was 72mbps, which is only 1mbps on what I was getting with FTTC though I accepted that.   However is that speedtest accepted by PN?

Re: FTTP Speedtest Issue

Speedtest.net is a reliable speedtester - but only test done over ethernet and not wifi will be useful.

Re: FTTP Speedtest Issue

@Total_Chaos Are we to assume from your above comment that you are now on an FTTP connection - if so, which 'package'?

Re: FTTP Speedtest Issue

Was told by my ex ISP that BTw will put IP Profile via control panel with Broadband Diagnostics test but I suspect it will be few ISP's to do it are AAISP, Zen Internet, UnchainedISP. Not sure if BT, EE and Plusnet will added it (for older ADSL2, VDSL2 and Gfast only) much similiar to this one below

Re: FTTP Speedtest Issue

Sorry, @goldenfibre , but can you put that in simple English for us, please? I can't make head nor tail of it. And who was your 'previous ISP'?

Where is image (added in your edit) from?
