Hello Bob,
I don't know if this is related but I am having problems sending email via Plusnet SMTP.
I use Gmail as the client to send emails via the Plusnet SMTP. (I can't use Gmail's own SMTP because they don't allow me to use my preferred domain as the 'from' address.)
I've tried a basic email test utility which looks like it uses the Telnet connection to relay.plus.net and that seems to work OK but sending from Gmail the emails are delayed for days or don't get through at all.
Gmail reports
"The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect.
[(0) relay.plus.net. [212.159.9.107]:25: socket error]
I've tested Gmail with another SMTP server and that works fine.
This has previously worked solidly for years but has gone wrong about a week ago. I've raised a ticket (99967242) but unfortunately all the Plusnet CSC want me to do is go away and use someone else's SMTP service

Sounds like it could well be related. I'll see what happens when tried from my own account...
Edit: Interesting. I already had a similar set-up configured but I've since changed my Plusnet password so before I could send any email I tried updating the login credentials:

Same situation with port 465.
Evidence is definitely pointing in the direction of a transport problem between Google's network and ours

Same here - 4 lines of text - too long for server try later!!
Cleared via gmail

Right, reckon we've cracked it. If people can try again and let me know how they get on then it would be much appreciated.

Looks good Bob. 
I've run a few test emails over the last couple of hours and no problems.
Many thanks for getting on to this and resolving so quickly.
Out of interest, if it's not too techy, what was the issue?

I have also run some test emails and received in PlusNet almost immediately. -  would also like to know what problem was?

A few of Google's servers ended up falling foul of one of our threat detection/intrusion prevention systems. The relevant domains have now be whitelisted to prevent it happening again.
