Sudden very slow speeds this afternoon/ evening?

HI guys,  I fix PC's for a living and often have to update stuff on them.
I noticed all afternoon that Windows update was taking ages to download on one PC.  Then an AV prog on another, took about half an hour to get 13mb..  Finally I started a torrent on my own PC just now (4 hours later) and its horribly slow.
I just did a speedtest and get only 1.6mb down, 0. 25mb up, my connection speed is 8mb, the exchange is 10 metres from my house.  Normally speeds are fantastic.
Tried rebooting the router, and its the same on 5 PC's.
Is there some sort of problem at your end?

I tried the BT speedtester, but it asks me for a login/email and when I put in my plusnet email it says wrong account.
.Is there some sort of problem at your end?

Re: Sudden very slow speeds this afternoon/ evening?

first question what package are you on
p2p and download servers are restricted on some packages,  M$S is counted as a download server and  thus capped, but different speeds and different packages

Re: Sudden very slow speeds this afternoon/ evening?

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate say for your current line speed? I guess it would normally be 7150 for you if you always sync at full speed. If it is lower something has caused a sync at a lower speed giving you a low IP Profile and it could take BT up to 3 days to put it back to where it should be.

Re: Sudden very slow speeds this afternoon/ evening?

Thanks guys. Back to 4mb  down this morning.
Quite happy with 4mb.
BUT - You cannot possibly get anyone closer to an exchange than me, its basically straight across the road.
Current Line Speed is just 4500, my router syncs at 8128 kbps.
Shouldnt my line speed be a bit higher, just as a matter of interest?Huh

Re: Sudden very slow speeds this afternoon/ evening?

Hi,
That's your IP Profile.
As you're syncing at 8Mbps, this should go up again in the next day or so.
