Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

The BT speedtester is pants at giving an accurate reading of your speed. The one use it serves is to tell you your IP Profile.
What does http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ say?

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Hi Yes I know about that , but that is correct,it tends to screw up on much higher throughputs
And the speed on the portal is the same,Just tried it and it managed nearly 1.5 meg!
There is a problem somewhere and it ain't here,
My Exchange is Hove and shows green on samknows

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Well it's been a week now still getting rubbish downloads ,and it seems I am not alone,
I thought this forum was to give feedback to support, Seems post like this are ignored,
I have now have had to raise a ticket ,
The support guy claims my line is dropping every few minutes
which it does not, maybe a few times lately due to me trying different filters etc,
If that is the case then the fault is after the Dslam,as my BT profile is steady at 5500
due to a stable line, the problem is throughput or lack of it , upspeed seems unaffected
often faster than downstream?

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

I find it best to raise a ticket as well - and then quote ticket number here on Forum.
But I agree - it is strange this thread wasn't picked up yesterday. The comms guys are normally very good.

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Hi,
Just had a quick look at your account, there are about 40 drops over the last week but it's been connected now for just over 21 hours. Do you know when the problem started as you were connected for several days up until 7th so I'm wondering if it started before during or after this session.
Speed profile and traffic management profile both look fine our side and there's spare bandwidth on the 21CN network all day apart from midnight for a couple of hours.
The fault's now with BT though to see if they can find any problems, there's nothing obvious showing but could be something in the backend systems somewhere.

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Hi Thanks for your reply, Yes that date is about right, streaming the tennis over the weekend was fine
about 5 to 6 meg constant, now streaming is a no no , although saying that 12.30 am my speeds were good
I downloaded a 2 gig linux Distro no problem, this morning at 10am still fine but since back to normal
see below
Today 14:20  1063 kbps (133kB/s)  834 kbps (104kB/s)e below
and it's not down to congestion ,as things don't change that fast

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Sorry I should like to know
,when you say 40 dropouts do you mean loss of syncs
or lost connection to yourselves,as I rarely loose sync, expecially since the Dslam has set my target S/n  to 9db
always been 6db,
And has been up for the last 23 hours ,so no problem line wise my end, but throughput still pants

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Seems to be a mix, 1 or 2 drops of sync a day on average over the week and the test dropping PPP sessions, some showing as "user request" so either you or your router disconnecting the session. 12:30am is the busiest time on our side of the 21CN network, but that may not be the case BT side or at your exchange. The exchange checkers at the moment only check 20CN capacity not 21CN capacity, we have a call on Tuesday with BT so I'll see if we can get that raised to get a report on 21CN VP capacity.

Re: Rubbish download speeds since weekend

Hi thanks for your quick reply
The recent drops this week have mainly been down to myself(nothing like 40 though), trying different routers
etc, all with the same result.
The point is though up until tuesday my download speed were fine , HD streaming from iplayer desktop
was brilliant, now it is not possible,it is like I  am on your your £5 package with all it's throttling.
this is my speed ATM
