1. My product type
04/12/2003 ********** Broadband EasyStart
2. My current usage from the VMBU
Peak usage: 147.28MB 4pm - Midnight
Off-peak usage: 466.88MB Midnight - 4pm
Total usage: 614.16MB
3. My IP Profile, as reported by Plusnet
Estimated line speed:
Not recorded (service activated before we introduced estimates).
Current line speed:
250
4. Information from the BT Speedtester
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5120 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps
5. A Speedtest from an external testing site.
6. My gateway
You are currently connected to the "Telehouse North, Juniper 2" gateway. This gateway is sometimes known as ptn-ag2.
7. My exchange status
"VP capacity at this exchange is currently showing as Red."
8. Any other information
Please note have got a current ticket open. "connection test" failed am presently waiting for a response
to my asking for a retry.
over the years my bb has got worse (more so since upto 8Mb), at present my speeds are worse than analog dial up.
I am convinced fault is not with my equipment as works fine on another line. I accept some slowdown due to contention
and or distance but something is wrong some where. When ever i use bt speedtest as bt_test_user I always get results
that are approx 20x better than using normal account. WHY IS THIS?
Kind regards
Ian

As I said in the PM yours is a different problem hence I split it out from the original thread.
There are two parts to this - the first is that the IPprofile doesn't match the Plusnet rate and the second is why both are much lower than your sync rate.
This would indicate a problem with the line and could either be within your property or between your property and the exchange.
Have you got a Sky Box connected
Can you post the full stats from your router - attenuation, noise margin and speeds

The VP capacity at your exchange isn't going to help either.
Have you raised a ticket about your BT and PN profile mismatch?

I have a currently open ticket. Won't they discover the mismatch or should I raise another ticket. I think the VP issue might be adding to an underlying problem but exchange isn't due for a fix until 23/10/09.

Hi Lippy,
Your profile has already increased in line with the BT one.
You may need to reboot your router to notice the increase.

Hi,
Your sync speed has dropped a bit between your first and second posts which presumably related to a resynch in the late evening - did you do this or did it happen by itself.
The thing which really concerns me is the Plusnet reported rate of 250kbps - this means that you had a very low sync event a few days ago. Could be between 2 and 4 days depending on the BT system response - perhaps James can advise actually when it happened from their records.
Do you have any idea what could have caused it

Hi Jameseh, Oldjim,
Have noticed vast improvement in speed
I don't know what's causing it, perhaps it is exchange problems see below
I'll monitor it for now hopefully it won't cause me any more grief
As an aside how often do you test your speed? Is there a way of doing a test automatically?
Regards and Thanks for all of your assistance.
Ian
