ADSL has 2 settings, fastpath or interleaving, fastpath is better for gaming , interleaving is better for other things i think.
All i know is my connection went pants when sky took it from fastpath to interleaving, so i bought PRO so i can get it back to fastpath, which it was swtiched over about 1am this morning

Stuaz,
"Fast" essentially means that interleaving is removed from the line.  This will improve latency (ie ping times are reduced) but it can also have a negative affect on stability.
It's obviously attractive to online gamers, but as I've said, it can have a negative impact.
