Need Good ADSL2 Bridge

Folks,   don't need a router/gateway, just a good solid ADSL2 bridge to run with my account.    Any ideas on what to recommend.    I have plume (www.plume.com) ... in order to not do double NAT (and most home routers (e.g. sky) are utter rubbish) it's best to just use a bridge.

Second hand unlocked Openreach Huaewei HG612 VDSL modem is the cheapest option, once unlocked it can be re-configured to work with ADSL2. You can pick up a locked one off a well known auction site for around £15, the unlocked ones tend to be a bit dearer.

The unlocking procedure is fairly straight forward and is purely software based so you don't need to open it up or do any soldering.

The other option is something like a Draytek vigor 130 - https://www.draytek.co.uk/products/business/vigor-130 which is a dedicated VDSL / ADSL modem for about £80.

Some combined modem / routers can also run in bridge mode, for example the Zyxel VMG8924-B10A can be used as a bridge as well as a modem as can many other consumer routers made by other manufacturers.

@franklinomiller if you're anywhere near the South Cheshire area , I've got 2 or 3 old 2700HGVs (Aka BT Business HUB) that are surplus to requirements. In their day they were noted as having one of the best performing ADSL2 modem around. I believe they can be set to bridge mode.

You're welcome to them if you can take them away...
