Re: Moan moan adsl2+ is slow

So after the upload profile was changed and i got the new phone/wire setup < only i phone line coming from the micro filter my stats are:
Connection Speed 3070 kbps 802 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.5 db 31.3 db
Noise Margin 6.2 db 10.0 db
So can anynoe explain why ive gone from 5mb/s on adsl to 3mb/s on adsl2+, there has to be an error somewhere surely?

Does your router report on connection errors at all?
Like you, I'm a little surprised that your speeds aren't higher.

Any idea as what your reported attenuation was on vanilla ADSL

Re: Moan moan adsl2+ is slow

From the posts you've made of stats it looks like you have a Netgear DG834x router. If that is the case can you download and run RouterStats. On the Telnet Router tab you will find error reporting. We'd also be interested in Bits/Tone which it also shows.
Could a change from fastpath to Interleaved explain some of the speed drop?

Re: Moan moan adsl2+ is slow

anotherone posted a gd setup for sample rates ect for routerstats here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,76116.0/topicseen.html
its the 15 min intervals of error reporting that will tell the most as you if one 15min interval records very few errors and you end up with a massvive improvment of thought speed in that same period you know youve found the offender

Re: Moan moan adsl2+ is slow

Can you post all the information from the Telnet summary page as this has all the error counts and tells us if you are on fastpath or interleaved.

Downstream Interleave Depth of 160 must be a record.  Wink

Re: Moan moan adsl2+ is slow

As it's hard for you to check your wiring you could request PN to turn off interleave and then see how stable your connection is. Otherwise you can leave you router on 24/7 without rebooting and see whether the DLM bring the depth down but this may take weeks.
