Is Postini any good?

I ask because lately I get mail with VIAGRA in the from address - surely postini should spot that?
Edit: It may have been because I put my own domains in the accepted whitelist? - to stop mail from my other half being marked as spam!

Re: Is Postini any good?

Spammers are cleverer than you think! The reason they think they can get away with putting 'Viagra' in the from address (or subject line) must be that lots of people actually order Viagra by email. Why should Postini stop them?
Mad world, eh?

You shouldn't add your entire domain - you should add the specific email addresses only. However Plusnet automatically add plus.com invisibly to everyone's whitelist so you are stuffed anyway. Sad

Not necessarily!  Plusnet ignores the whitelisting if the email doesn't have an X-plusnet-relay header. BUT, if you opt for Postini quarantining, the whitelist works and Plusnet doesn't do anything about it. THEN you're stuffed!

Re: Is Postini any good?

Don't I just know it! What's so annoying is that up until around 29th April this automatic whitelisting wasn't applied if you were using Postini quarantine. At the moment they are refusing to even acknowledge that it has changed. The ticket I have open on this has headers before and after it was changed (before no org good and after it has org good). Angry

Re: Is Postini any good?

I'm confused. So what was problem ID 50956 all about then (& 51089 come to that)? Surely a whitelisted entry should work whether you've opted for quarantine or not and likewise plus.com (or any PN domain) whitelisting should not be accepted unless it's gone via the Relays.
(Likewise blacklisting should work whether you've opted for quarantine or not.)
Edit: Added 51089.  @Mods, anyway shouldn't this thread all be in the Postini feedback thread?

Re: Is Postini any good?

The checking for the relays is done by the PN end not by Postini. So if plus.com is whitelisted, blatent spams which have scored well below 0.15 with a spoofed sender of anything@anyone.plus.com do not get quarantined if you are using the Postini quarantine option.
