I can live with a 1/2 Mb connection but I don't want too.

Maybe its the weather, maybe my new router/modem/switch (on a wired connection) or maybe swopping to bbyw option 1, anyone have any ideas on why I am gettong a drop from 1.5Mb to .5Mb?
To  be honest I have had it before and worse after my 'upgrade' to MaxDSL a year ago now, before that solid 1Mb for ages but I do like the new bbyw charges.
The new router/modem did boost my connection speeds briefly but not enough to change the 1.5Mb connection I had and its now dropped down to 1/2Mb is this a normal variation or something that I or plusnet can do something about?
These are my new router/modem connection figures:-
Trained Modulation  ADSL_G.dmt
Path Mode  Interleaved

Ds Rate (Kbps)  1056
Us Rate (Kbps)  448
DS Margin (dB)  10
US Margin (dB)  18
DS Line Attenuation (dB)  58
US Line Attenuation (dB)  31

CRC Rx Fast  0
CRC Tx Fast  0
CRC Rx Interleaved  1095
CRC Tx Interleaved  9
My thanks in advance if anyone can suggest anything.
  Peter.

Re: I can live with a 1/2 Mb connection but I don't want too.

Your DS sync rate is the problem. It needs to be above 1172 to get a 1Mbs BT profile so as it stands you get the closest which is only 500Kbs.
Check connection settings -> high speed broadband on the portal which will most likely say 500.
Until you can sync higher I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to improve what you have. Its possible the weather is the cause but with ADSL there are many causes, including no-filtered phones, bad internal wiring, your router not handling the noise level (you have a very bad line with a DS line atten of 58 meaning you are a long way from the exchange).
Its also possible due to line problems that BT have upped your min SNR to 9 dB which will cause a lower sync rate and reduction in throughput speed.
Try plugging the DSL into the test socket which is behind the user removable lower panel of your master socket. Also try with all other phones disconnected to see if you get an improvement. If you do then your internal wiring is at fault.

Re: I can live with a 1/2 Mb connection but I don't want too.

What's also noticeable is that the downstream attenuation is also quite high @ 58dB. This shows you as having quite a long line.
The synchronisation speed is also relatively low owing to the SNR of 18dB.  this may be down to your line being noisy.  I'd try changing filters and ensuring that you are connected directly to your master socket with all other sockets filtered.
It may help.

You might get 750kbps IP rate but as far as I know the PlusNet system hasn't been updated to allow this.

Re: I can live with a 1/2 Mb connection but I don't want too.

I would have expected an IP Profile of 750Kbps to be assigned a 1000Kbps profile at our end.  We do have profiles ready to go live, but not entirely sure when these are rolling just yet.

I am sure a lot of us look at these numbers on our routers and havent got a clue what they mean, is there a decent idiots guide anywhere you could point us to?

This might help a bit too in addition to Kitz's very good line stats guide.

Was that addressed to me or the OP? In either case I don't know what link you are referring to.

I suspect that your problem reading James's link is related also to this :-

Since that link gave the same error message as in the other thread I would tend to agree.
Tried restarting Firefox and it still gave the error but IE7 works fine.
