Re: Help!!

As I thought
Your internal wiring is the problem
Compare
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,107 / 2,091
with
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,155 / 11,835
Now to try and sort that out unless you can keep using the test socket
I suspect that whoever put in 10 extension sockets made a complete pigs breakfast of it
Can you post a picture of the lower faceplate you removed to show the wiring attached to it

Re: Help!!

That could be a problem we have only just moved into this rented flat which is only 9 years old and all cabling appears to be quite well done, I will try and take some photos tomorrow and attach.
By the way if I used the test socket (in Hall) Which is a long way away from our preferred location why is it that when I carry out a speed test it still remains the same, and will it make a difference if I tested each socket separately?

Re: Help!!

The speed test will remain the same as the Plusnet profile here won't have updated https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed you may find it has changed over night

Re: Help!!

I suspect that your 10 extensions have been STAR wired which is very bad news for ADSL.  Conversion to daisy-chain wiring is a bit tedious but not difficult.
The current synch speed is way over a reasonable expectation for your line.  The error counts need to be watched as a 3dB SNRM might be a bit too low for the line.

Re: Help!!

I should add that the 2 points I use have one of these fitted:-  Assynia AS-LAPS Analogue Secondary Tailed Line Adaptor, BT Female Socket to RJ45
Don't know if that would make any difference.

Re: Help!!

That isn't a filter - what was connected to it - if it was the router that may be the problem as you shouldn't use one of those with a router even with a filter first as you will be connecting the router to the telephone side of the filter
If it was a non UK phone then it should be OK providing you have a filter between it and the phone socket

Re: Help!!

If correctly wired (daisy-chained) the wire goes from one extension to the next and on to the next.  At no point should there be more that two wires - one in and one out.
With star wiring, one wire goes to a point from which are run more than one wire to other sockets.

It updated at 3.45am this morning. However there was no PPP drop again (I'll add to problem).
@p147
Can you log in to your router and press disconnect, wait 30 seconds and then connect. You should see some better speeds coming through then.
