G.DMT or ADSL2/+

I have had speed and stabiliy problems since moving to 21CN, This afternoon I thought I would try forcing ADSL G.DMT on my router rather than Auto or ADSL2.  And wow my connection was back over 3000 again.  It has been connect until about 10 minutes ago where the router just dropped and failed to pick up a connection again.  I have put it back on Auto and it is now connected again, but with ADSL2 back at 2000.
Does anyone know if G.DMT is ok to use on 21CN, if so why would it have dropped my connection and not let me connect with G.DMT again, but ADSL2 connected fine.

Re: G.DMT or ADSL2/+

its fine to use adsl g.dmt on 21cn. ive used it for a couple of days and all was fine but my line didnt drop in that time so i couldnt tell you if my dg834g v4 router had an issue with resyncing in this mode.
what router do you have?

I have a Netgear DG834GT, initially, but also been trying the Speedtouch 585 v7.

Re: G.DMT or ADSL2/+

I have only tried the Netgear, I am a bit reluctant to do too much swapping about incase the Download SNR starts to go made again.  I tried the Speedtouch for a week or so, but it gave consistently slower connections and didnt offer and additional stability over the Netgear.

Guys,
I have similar issues.
How do you force a g.dmt connection on the Thomson 585 router?

Re: G.DMT or ADSL2/+

i think thats how you change the mode on the 585 but not 100% as i dont use thomsons.
you have to do it by telnet thats for sure.
am sure some one who telnets into theres often will connfirm if thats right
Quote
start -> run
"telnet 192.168.1.254"
username <Administrator> unless youve changed it
password <your modem password - same one as the web interface>
"xdsl debug multimode config=g992.1_annex_a"
"saveall"
"exit"

to revert back to multimode use the following
>xdsl debug multimode config=t1.413issue2+g992.1_annex_a+g992.3_annex_a+g992.3_annex_m+g992.5_annex_a+g992.5_annex_m
