Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

It can be anything from a few hours up to 5 days, depending on how large a percentage increase in sync has taken place.

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

Thanks for that 4Candles.
My speed initially dropped to 1462 and is now 7264 - by the information on that site I should be back to normal now.

Fair enough.
So I'll hope for a return by this time tomorrow then.

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

It doesn't always work exactly like described on kitz.  Once it took over 10 days to recover.  The last time it was about 2 days.

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

It's so arbitrary?
I'd hate that. How did you know you just needed to wait longer and that it wasn't the BRAS profile being stuck?

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

I didn't know.  I asked PN and I was told they have no control over the IP profile.

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

No, I think that's right. The IP Profile is BT's end. I'm sure they could ring up and ask them to sort out a profile for some reason but basically it seems to be an automated thing out of PN's control. The only thing PN's end is taking 12 hours (more IME) to adjust their profile to match. I can't see how this IP Profile thing is acceptable. You get a bad connection and are heavily penalised for days.

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

I had an "Unexplained" at 0400 in the morning, dropped my speed right down, but the Synch stayed at 8128, these are my speed tests at the time

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

I've been re-syncing from time to time, just to see if there'd be any changes. I've noticed that it mostly returns a figure of 7008, but occasionally will show 7142 or even 7264. It never drops below 7000 but is always 1 of those 3 figures. Is the fact that it doesn't return the same figure every time important? Does it need to be rock steady in order for my profile to be reinstated? Any idea why it should fluctuate slightly like this?

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

It fluctuates because your noise margin also fluctuates slightly.
That is quite normal and nothing to worry about

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

So, my profile has gone up to 6000 according to BT, but my throughput is only 1292. Do I have to wait for PN to catch up for my download speed to increase?

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

Thing is, when my profile dropped to 1500 initially, it took almost a day for PN to register the change of figure on their site, yet my speed was slower instantly. How come now that my profile has gone up again, my speed is still the same slow speed and hasn't gone up instantly?

Re: Faulty micro filter caused Sync speed to drop

thats the way BT "System" works.  PN normally get notification from BT that it has alterred and then the change on PN's side is at about 10 AM following
