Could anyone tell me why there should be such a big difference between my download speed, measured by Plusnet's speedtester, on the 9th of May last year, and the speed result done today. See below.
Edited:-
Plusnet's availability checker: Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 13.5Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 11Mbps and 15.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1Mbps and downstream line speed of 13.5Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 11Mbps and 15.5Mbps.

Take a look at this thread: http://community.plus.net/blog/2007/07/02/broadband-speed-faults-how-to-diagnose/
If that's no help, raise a fault and the Faults Team will let you know what can be done

The thread seems a bit long, and hasn't been active for a some considerable time, but I like the idea of the "Actuate" and Whoosh" tools.
Is there a way whereby I can use these tools to monitor the variations in my line synchronisation speed without troubling a hard-pressed Plusnet support team ?

Hi Boz,
I'm afraid not, no - they're only available to ISP staff.
If you're not already using it it might be worth looking at routerstats? That should allow you to monitor your sync variations etc, you can read more about it here: http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
Hope that helps.
