It is not acceptable to advise me to specify some other DNS server because that prevents me from accessing the web via the proxy server at work.
The link that Bob posted http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway tells me:
"Records show your IP address is not that from the PlusNet brand and as such, we cannot detect your gateway. The results below may be skewed somewhat as a result.
You are currently connected to the "City Lifeline, Juniper 9" gateway. This gateway is sometimes known as pcl-ag02.
This is because it appears you are not a PlusNet Customer."
This statement is not correct, though it may well become so in the near future.
As I am paying more for this connection than I would for BT, talk-talk, Tiscali etc I expect a better service than I would get from those ISPs

Quote from: Bob Anyway, quick update...
Four of the servers at one of the sites you connect to for DNS resolution keep on failing TCP/IP heathchecks in the load balancer.
Bob
This hasn't started recently, it's been going on for weeks. I first raised a ticket on 16th June - not that that was the start of it - it just got worse then, but I gave up with it as the responses were less than helpful. The problem is at it worst at the busiest times of the day, mid-morning, late afternoon/early evening and again just after midnight. I think the increased iPlayer traffic has also had a large part to play in it.
I have PuTTY running constantly, monitoring my asterisk server, and spot the problems straight away as they happen, registrations timing out or failing completely and extensions becoming lagged or unreachable, etc.
I am using 212.159.6.10 and 212.159.13.50 at the present time but have tried various combinations over the last few weeks.

If your tracert's complete in a reasonable time, which they have, then this isn't a problem.
If you've got problems then usually one or two hops will be shown with * * * meaning they've timed out.

Quote from: jelv You don't have to change it in your router. Change the network settings on your PC to use the DNS servers you want.
Thanks Jelv, I've forced mine to change to a different DNS server and I seem to have most things back BUT.... when this started at the weekend, my newsreader started throwing up connection errors and that's not gone away. Is it just a coincidence?

Ok, spoke too soon. Nothing's changed at all. My only access is via this dog-slow proxy.
Are Plusnet going to give customers a refund for this non-service?

Or better still cancel our contracts so we can move elsewhere
