I have been using a netgear dgn2000.
The problem is some days when i switch on the pc or 360 the net connection is on and connected but i cant get online so i have to reboot the router, this happens every 3-5 days.
Could this cause my ip profile to drop? as a few months ago i was hitting 7000 down and around 1250-1500 up but it has dropped to 3500 down and 1100 up with my ip profile at 4000.
If its the router im happy to purchase another one with some guidance from you.
Heres my router stats
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 16923 25710 0 1973 13270 00:32:25
LAN 10M/100M 26730 17177 0 13210 2120 00:33:35
WLAN 11M/54M/130M 372 123 0 42 3 00:33:10
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5095 kbps 1167 kbps
Line Attenuation 41.5 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 15.2 db 6.2 db
Yet BT speed tester is saying only 3000kbps down yet i could be hitting 7250kbps.
Thanks for your time

I have been using the same type of router for years now so I don't know if it's still the best.
The DG834G v3 does have a reputation for good synch speeds, it can hold lines with incredibly low noise margins.

For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5095 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1167 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 14.69:24.78:60.53 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
Third test in 3 days with almost identicle results.

However, your profiles are around about in line with your synchronisation speeds which are lower than your previous throughput speeds. Have you moved the router to a new socket? Which socket is it in now? If it's in the master socket, please move it to the test socket and re-run a speed test for us. If it's not in the master socket then please move it to the master socket and again, retest and let us know the results.
