BT up to 8mg advert can anybody get 8mg?

When BT say it’s an up to 8mg connection why can i not get at least 7.0 to 7.5 mg download speed taking in to account all the info below?  Can anybody on a 8mg connection actually get 8mg?

well yes  my synch was 8128, profile 7150 and download about 6500 when and plain vanilla broadband, now I am on adsl2 and get as below, synch 14000,  not on fibre, so why not

Oh and I cant see my exchange, no I plate, not even a modern master plate just this

taking a car as an example, the engine gives out 81 HP, the gear box not being efficient only passes 71 HP, then that get to the road by the axle and rubber tyres and only 65 gets to the road, yo have to give up something to the transmission

Same as P_P.
Exchange nearly a mile away over a hill. ADSL1 I had sync 8128 etc. etc.
With ADSL2+ I sync around 20mbps (varies slightly depending on conditions) and download (after all the overheads) at about 2MB/s (That 2 MegaBytes persecond).
Adequate as RR used to say about the power of their engines.

So Boys the answer is No then?

BT has put my local exchange back years it not even on the list anymore for the up to 20mg it should have been completed by the end of November this year
