Hi all,
I have an Apple Aiport Express which I want to use to extend my PlusNet broadband network to parts of the house where there is a weaker signal.
I have currently got the Airport Express set to "Join A Wireless Network".
The signal shows as "Excellent" and I have a green light on the unit.
However I want to set it to "Extend A Wireless Network".
I go through the Config on the Utility and everything seems fine. When I go to save the settings, the Utility says it's "Updating". After a few minutes it fails and states that the Airport Express is not found.
The only thing I can do then is 'forget' the Airport Express in the Utility, then I have to reset it with a pin and start again.
I'm not having any success, and I've also logged into my PlusNet router to see if there are any settings for extending wi-fi (eg to 'allow' wi-fi extending) but no joy.
After messing about for 2+ hours I'm not getting anywhere.
I would be grateful for any help!
All the best
Paul

I believe you can only extend other Airport devices, not just any router.
I've connected an airport extreme to the hub one with an ethernet cable and can use the wireless without issue.

Not the best idea to use an AEX as a repeater/extender anyway since its only Wireless N, and the Plusnet Hub One (presuming that's what you have) is Wireless AC, and that's before you take into account what adding 'hops' to WiFi networks does to throughput...

Thanks Dvorak. I'm not sure that's right though. The instructions don't suggest you can only use the wi-fi extension facility with another Apple product (ie the Extreme).
