If im currently on ADSL can I be moved over ASAP please. My current downsteam is 6432kbps so im not sure which im on,

Hi EssexJoe85,
You are currently on 20CN. Your order is due to to complete on the 7th Feb, so not too long to wait now.

Re: ADSL2

Ok so my switch over to ADSL2 happened about 6 days ago, these are basically the stats I have had since then. My data rate was higher, (mid 6000 ish) but has dropped back.
Am i right in thinking this is about the best im going to get then other than the upload improvement which seems to have doubled since the adsl?

Re: ADSL2

Looking at the stats the download speed is about right for your attenuation. In fact it is surprising that your router even synced with ADSL2+.
If you want more download speed you may be better using ADSL2, although your upload speed would go back to 448k.
Some modems allow you to choose, otherwise you may need to ask the PN staff

Re: ADSL2

At the moment the router is choosing on auto, however it would appear I can choose between adsl2 and adsl2+, until you mentioned it i didnt realise both of these existed.
Is speed the main difference between the two?
My attenuation has always been around this figure, over the weekend I was reading SNR margins around the 2-3 mark.

Re: ADSL2

ADSL2+ is up to 24Mb down and c1Mb Up (although can be higher)
ADSL2 is 12Mb Down and c0.5Mb Up.
Given your attenuation that max speed difference on download won't really matter. However the bits that are used for the extra upload speed on ADSL2+ will be used for extra download speed on ADSL2
Probably not 100% technically accurate - but hopefully you will understand.
If your router is set to auto it should choose the best option for you.....but may be worth switching to ADSL2 to see it improves your download speed any.

Re: ADSL2

I wouldn't expect forcing ADSL2 to increase download sync speed, in fact it is likely to reduce it. Frequencies from the normal downstream range are used to increase upload speeds only for the Annex M variant of ADSL2+ which is not an option here.
Upload sync speeds on ADSL2 should be the same as on ADSL2+. I think the maximum is theoretically 1.3Mbps though just over 1.1Mbps seems to be the practical maximum.

Re: ADSL2

spraxyt - Not sure if Plusnet cap it but I get half the upload sync speed on ADSL2 vs ADSL2+
[Edit] Looking at this post it would appear that Plusnet do cap uploads, and Adam says uncapping can effect download speeds slightly:
